Confucius ideas about dance were not only philosophical but they were also powerful in the means of communicating his passion for humanitarian peace and love for education. Confucius as a peacemaker found dance as a way of making life interesting and also maintaining peace and harmony in the society.Section IConfucius was a Chinese Philosopher, a teacher and also a politician. He was born on 28th September 551BC. Being a philosopher, he came up with the philosophy that was based on real life teachings, values and also moral behav ior. He was the first teacher in China who made education for all a priority. He taught six arts which included calligraphy, music, archery, arithmetic, ritual and also charioteering. In his late 40s, he stepped out of teaching and became a politician when he was appointed the governor of Lu state. He was later appointed to be the minister of Public Works. (Riegel, 2013). In his political career, he was ambitious in returning the government to the duke for a centralized government which was impossible. However, he was able to make reforms that would achieve the same objective. His philosophy which was Confucianism is followed in a religious manner. This is because it speaks more about what happens after death. It also has views concerning his belief in Heaven. However, some people consider it to be completely secular.Section IIConfucius Philosophy was that people should act and perform their duties while cooperating with the society to achieve peace. This involved doing what is righ t and obeying the laws that the government has placed. He also insisted that people should take their responsibilities well. For instance, parents have a duty to take care of their children and provide for them. The approaches to the philosophy include the study and practice of virtues such as kindness, loyalty, and generosity. (Sutter, 2003). The other approach includes human nature as being of quality through effort, the study of self and also bringing peace to others.Confucius philosophies were influenced by his love for education which made him a successful teacher. His aim was to educate everyone despite their social status. He was also influenced by patriotism as a young person. (Jayaram, 2017).Through this love, his philosophy had rules which included that studying without reasoning may lead to confusion and also think or reasoning without studying is laziness. He had a passion for his country which also influenced his political career in his 40s.Confucius major works are sai d to be written by his students rather than himself. They included books. The Analytics was an actual exposition of his philosophy. It included sayings that were collected and written down where he brings down the fact that the childrens education was important so that they learn to take the early stages of their lives importantly. The Great Learning Ta Hsueh was a translation of Education for Adults. Mencius was also a book that gives an interpretation of Confucius to be an influential one. This interpretation was a human nature and government that was based on social control. The Doctrine of the Mean Chung Yung and Mencius were also among the four books written by Confucius. (Jayaram, 2017). The Book of Rites which was a Record of the Music. It illustrates how it contributes to bringing peace and a harmonious nature to the society.Section IIIConfucius was a peacemaker. (Lieberman, 1984). His philosophy of peace was every man performing their duty. This brings out that he was inte rested in having a peaceful society. Most of his sayings promoted peace. He encouraged that people be kind to others to promote a harmonious nature in the society. Everyone should be considerate of the others and perform acts of kindness. He also said that a nobleman preaches and practices what they preach and uses his practice as a preaching. His teachings have also played a major role in maintaining peace in the society. It has influenced the Chinese people in their behavior and also in their lifestyle. He also cherished the Chinese rich culture and values. This made him angry about the lack of proper morals in the province where he lived. He started encouraging people to take responsibility for their commitments and actions. He also bases the peacemaking philosophy on religion by teaching people to live according to the peaceful nature of Heaven. He describes people as naturally good in his works and that evil and sin are learned over time. (Lieberman, 1984). This can be avoided by maintaining a healthy body and soul so that they are able to walk in the ways of righteousness.Confucius was seen as a great person in the society as he served as a teacher and also a political figure. He was also seen as an influence on most of the people as he valued education thus seeing people need education so as to have an empowered society. (Weiyuan, 2008). The people also viewed Confucius as a powerful mentor and also a changer as he wanted to change the government to a central government which would increase loyalty and eventually corruption and greed.The teachings of Confucius about peace and also responsibility apply in todays life because he insisted on government morality and maintenance of a code of ethics. In the work, The Analetics, he focuses on loyalty and obedience to the authority which is a principle that is relevant to todays rule where there is hierarchy and also obedience to the laws that are created by the government. The people are expected to go by wha t the high-level rule of the country. The harmonious society that is encouraged by Confucius also applies today because they reveal how different communities view their leadership and use this in maintaining peace and order in the society. Also, ordinary people prefer Confucius nature of spiritual nourishment which encourages reality and also lack of corruption, moral evils that aim at duping human morality and individual values.Section IVEven though Confucius was not a dancer, he was a philosopher and a teacher who understood the implications of dance. He insisted on personal, morality, proper social relationships and also justice and equality in the society. One of the famous Confucius quotes about dance include, never give a sword to a man who cannot dance. This is a metaphor which says that dance is ideal for everyone. This means that every person has to learn how to dance first before they are allowed to fight. As a teacher of music, Confucius views music as an entertainment and as a way of enjoying life. By dancing, one is able to enjoy and also have fun by applying creativity and also the movement makes one forget the problems of the planet which are considered to be the greatest distractions of life. When you give them a sword, they will never enjoy life as they will always live to fight for the society that is always warlike.The significance of this quote is that it shows the importance of dance in life. It puts a particular effort on a sword because a sword is a weapon that is used to fight during wars and also battles. He reasons out that when a war starts it never stops and the people involved may not be able to come back and enjoy life. Between the battle, there should be a reason to fight to live hence the people should be encouraged to dance before they can fight. (Woods Lamond, 2011). Dance is a way of showing love and also connects the people to the society where it brings joy and laughter. By cultivatin g love in the society, people are encouraged to love each other. This impacts the peaceful nature of the society as the person given the sword will be considerate of the human nature.A sword is used to represent a weapon or a tool for fulfilling one's destiny. It is what one uses to make their dreams and vision come true. It draws inner strength and also the power of oneself to win the battles. (Weiyuan, 2008). The battle may be used to represent what one has to conquer or do in order to get to their destiny. This may include the paths and also the work that one has to do. Confucius represents that even though there are battles, the people have to enjoy people and dance is the best way to connect with the destiny.This quote about dance matches with his philosophy of cultivating a human nature of goodness. This is by making them teachable, and also good through learning. When the people are taught how to dance, they get to know what is expected of them and also they are determined to do what is good. When people are learning to dance, they tend to strive to master the steps and be perfect. (Weiyuan, 2008). This is the same way that when people are taught about being good, righteous and responsible, they will tend to learn how to do good things that eventually bring peace to the society. The fact that the sword represents a tool to win the battle, it shows that one needs to learn how to do good before they are given the weapon that they will use to fight evil and also the inhuman nature of human beings in the society.Section VWhen creating a folk dance, I would include the main focus of peace and humanitarian values.
